Shea O’Day presenting her work in an oral presentation

Shea O’Day (Georgetown ‘26) presented her research investigating dolphin associations at the Georgetown University Undergraduate Research Showcase. O’Day’s research centers around utilizing photo meta-data to learn more about dolphin associations in the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay.

In her research, O’Day has discovered that, much like the Shark Bay dolphins, the Potomac-Chesapeake dolphins have more stable relationships amongst males whereas females have less defined and solid associations.

This work will help the project immensely with complex behavioral questions and individual dolphin behavior.
